Reading Time: 3 minutes

Dengue fever is the most rapidly spreading disease from mosquitoes worldwide and is the result of 4 types of dengue viruses. Dengue cases are also increasing in different cities in Pakistan at this time.

According to an estimate, every year around the world, 40 million people suffer from dengue infections, of which 9 million 60 million are sick. Dengue fever is a type of mosquitoes caused by the bite of aedes which itself is affected by the dengue virus and transmits the virus to the blood after cutting.

Dengue fever, also called fracture fever, is a mosquito-borne infection that can cause a serious flu-like illness. It is caused by four different viruses and transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. Symptoms range from mild to severe. One of the more serious symptoms is the shock of dengue fever.

But this disease cannot spread directly from one person to another.

Dengue Brief information

Dengue is transmitted by the mosquitoes Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, which are found worldwide.  About 2.5 billion people, or 40% of the world’s population, live in areas at risk of dengue transmission.

Dengue is endemic in at least 99 countries in Asia, the Pacific, the Americas, Africa and the Caribbean. Symptoms usually start 47 days after the mosquito bite and usually last 310 days.  Effective treatment is possible if clinical diagnosis is made early.

Dengue Symptoms

Dengue symptoms usually appear in 4 to 6 days after illness and often persist for 10 days.

These symptoms include sudden high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, severe pain in joints and muscles, fatigue, vomiting, nausea, skin irritation (which occurs in 2 to 5 days after fever). Slight bleeding (from nose, gums or scratches) is remarkable. Often the severity of the symptoms is minor and they are also understood as a result of the flu or any other viral infection.

Young children and people who have not been affected by dengue before, the severity of the disease is more minor than children and adults. But the risk of serious problems can be in every patient, such as dengue hemorrhage fever, which is a complication of high fever, damage to the lymph and blood vessels, bleeding from the nose and gums, increased liver and circulatory system.

Serious symptoms can result in a lot of blood outflow and also increase the risk of death.

The risk of dengue hemorrhage fever is very high among people who own a weak immune system or who are experiencing dengue other or several times.

Diagnosis and treatment of dengue

Doctors can diagnose dengue with a blood test.

There is no specific medicine for the treatment of dengue infection and if you think you have dengue, you can use painkillers like paracetamol, but it is important to avoid aspirin, because it can make the blood flow worse. Patients should rest, drink more water and consult the doctor and if the condition feels worse in the first 24 hours after the fever is reduced, they should go to the hospital immediately.

If there is no vaccine available for dengue prevention, use mosquito repellents for your protection, whether outside the home or the office or inside four walls, wearing socks in the ostrich shirt and feet, if there is ac in the house, make sure to stop the arrival of mosquitoes in Windows and doors, use the mosquito net if not ac. Similarly, to reduce the population of mosquitoes, follow the prevention of their growth, such as do not allow water to be collected in old tires, vases and others.  If someone has dengue in the house, take great care to protect yourself and other families. The infected person who has dengue from the bite of mosquitoes can spread the disease in other people at home.
