Fast food refers to food that can prepare and served quickly. It can come from: sit-down restaurants, take-out, drive-thru, and delivery. Fast food is popular because it is inexpensive, convenient, and its taste is good. Fast food made of cheaper ingredients such as high fat meat, refined grains, and added sugar and fats. Nutritious ingredients such as lean meats, whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables not included in fast food. Fast food is also high in sodium salt which providers use as a preservative and makes our diet tastier and satisfying.

Popularity of Junk food

  • The average family of developed countries now spend half of their food budget on restaurant. The 38 percent of family food budgets spend eating fast food outside the home.

  • Also, they are easy to get to.
  • Due to the taste of fast food.
  • Very inexpensive.
  • You are too busy to cook.
  • A “treat” for yourself.
  • Your friends/family like them.
  • It is a way of socialize with friends and family: They have many nutritious foods to offer.

Effects of Junk Food

You will be lethargic

Large portions that are often high in fat, fast foods like burgers, fries, and milkshakes, fast food often delivers a hefty dose of calories often leave you feeling full and lethargic.

Your skin will deteriorate

Eating fast food may cause skin Problems such as acne.

You will bloat

Some foods contain higher amounts of sodium. sodium also adds to many food products.  Sodium in large amount causes your body to retain water, making you feel bloated and puffy.

Your memory and cognitive function will decline

Fast foods like bacon burgers, some fried foods, and milkshakes are high in saturated fats. Higher intakes of saturated fatty acids may impair memory speed and prospective memory.

You will be constipated

 Fiber improves the digestive tract working, help it to work properly . It also helps lower cholesterol and keep blood sugar levels in normal range. “Unfortunately, most fast foods do not contain high dietary fiber contents, and cause of constipation.”

If you take high-calorie it can lead to obesity, which puts you at risk for developing chronic diseases, The researchers concluded that more fast-food consumption also contribute to weight gain.

Your body is temporarily full so even though you may have eaten a lot of calories, you won’t be satisfied for long, because empty foods do not provide nourishment.

Meat that used mostly in fast foods is contaminated that is why it can cause inflammation in body.

Drinking large amounts of soda increases the amount of acid in your mouth, which in result causes tooth decay and cavities.

Recent research shows that eating fast food may cause a higher rate of depression and anxiety.

Your kidneys and stomach will suffer

Sodium that is present in fast food also can contribute to  high blood pressure or an enlarged heart muscle. If you have congestive heart failure, cirrhosis, or kidney disease do not use more sodium salt in your foods.

Your blood sugar will spike

Eating high fast food increases your blood sugar. If you consume white-flour-based foods such as the bun from a burger, or French fries with your sandwich your body takes in a large amount of white sugar. Regular consumption of these foods also leads to diseases such as obesity

There is a lack of omega-3 fatty acids in fast foods. It can make you worry.

Many fast foods which are used derived from animal products, deep fried and served with cheese and high-fat dipping sauces. High fat content in fast food can contribute to high cholesterol, which can also lead to a disease known as atherosclerosis.

Fats commonly found in fast food are made of saturated fatty acids. Those fats that are solid at room temperature, often derived from animals and some plant oils, such as palm oil. It will heighten your risk of heart disease.

A high sodium intake also causes your bones to weaken, leading to possible diseases such as osteoporosis, Shapiro warns.
